Red Bull Module (analysis)

This was my favourite module yet despite being the most stressful. The task was to create an advert for Red Bull that promotes the product on it stimulating both the body and mind, as well as promoting it to men and women athletes. Furthermore we were not able to use any text in the advert, it was only an image and the logo.

I liked that we were able to be very creative about the project and there was a precise brief, we were told exactly what we needed to do. What i also liked about the module was how the research was broken down in to individual tasks. with the previous two modules and in secondary school and A levels i have always struggled with understanding what makes good research and with the sheet we were given i was able to understand what i need to do in order to achieve a good research file and develop my understanding of print based adverts at a professional level. I liked how Red Bull is a product that is shown as not taking itself seriously so the creative freedom was good.

I did not enjoy the drawing aspect of the module. I am not a confident drawer and was concerned that my intended message would not be put across as i hoped. I did not enjoy the stress with not being able to use body copy for the advert as you had to put across a range of meanings in that one advert with one image and logo alone. I did like the fact that we were being challenged and it did make me think hard about the adverts image more so that i typically would with an advert.

The presentation went well. My feedback was really positive. I was told that i came across very confident and i projected my voice well. I sold my advert well and promoted it confidently. I was told that i moved well and made good eye contact with my audience. One of my peers liked my last line of the presentation "Increase sales, make money, and that to me sounds like good business". I liked that fact that it was the last line of the presentation that stood out as it finishes the presentation off well and makes it more memorable.

Despite my presentation going well i was informed that adding some images or graphs to the presentation would have improved it a lot as it would have made it more visually interesting. My time management had improved from previous modules as i began using a dairy to plan what i am going to do  and when, however, it still could have been better. My mounting skills still need improving but i hope that will come in time.

I learnt about the Light Box that i can use to help with the standard of my visuals that are done by pen. Because i struggle with my drawing this really helped me communicate my message better.

I spent about 4 hours mac-ing up an image on photoshop. although i admit i need to improve my photoshop skills that should be something i need to put in to practice in my own time. The time i spent mac-ing up the image i could have gotten a lot more work done that day which would have made things the next day less stressful.

i learnt that i can present an advert by drawing it, not all my created adverts needs to be done over computer, perhaps when i improve my mac skills i shall do more computer based adverts.

I learnt i need to improve time management and prioritise my work, not just jot things down in a dairy.
